Ridgemont Board of Education members and administrators offered their appreciation to the community during the Thursday evening board meeting for their support of the renewal income tax levy on the Nov. 5 ballot.
The 0.75 percent income tax will continue to provide operating funds for the district, generating approximately $493,626 per year.
Members also thanked Jennifer Musson for being the treasurer for the Citizens of Ridgemont committee and Kate Wingfield for serving as the campaign manager.
School officials also reported the 15th annual senior citizen luncheon is at noon Dec. 5 in the Mt. Victory building. This luncheon is for ages 60 and older community members who currently live in the Ridgemont District.
Wal-Mart of Kenton has provided continued donations to make the event possible. Make reservations by Nov. 27 by calling Sandy Overly, (937) 354-2441.
A Spanish field trip to Belize in June of 2021 was approved. Spanish teacher Danielle Webber will coordinate the trip, and stops will include Ambergris Caye, Belize City and the Cayo Region. The student cost is $3,040.
The treasurer also was authorized to advertise for bids for 2020, 2021, and 2022 farm ground rental in Ridgeway.
School officials also reported on the district’s Veterans Day activities, which was attended by 30 area veterans and included a breakfast, assembly and sessions with high school students. The sophomore class planned and hosted the event.
Ridgemont Schools will not be in session Monday, Nov. 25, for grades pre-K through six for morning parent-teacher conferences.
Also Monday, students in grades seven through 12 participate in career exploration activities.
Students also are not in session Tuesday, Nov. 26, for a teacher professional development day. Nov. 27 through 29 is the district’s Thanksgiving break.
