Richard Totman Wolever, age 75, of St. Pete Beach, Florida, died peacefully Tuesday, April 16, 2024 surrounded by family.
Richard grew up in the East Liberty area where he attended and was a member of East Liberty Methodist Church. He graduated from Logan Hills high School in 1967. He earned a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, followed by a doctorate from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.
A dedicated physician, he retired from medical practice after serving over 40 years. Specializing primarily in emergency medicine, he founded his own ER physician service, providing support to several community hospitals in central Ohio, including Mary Rutan in Bellefontaine and Hardin Memorial in Kenton.
Richard was an accomplished pianist, art collector, and marathon enthusiast, having completed over 50 races. The beach held a special place in Richard’s heart, and he often entertained family and friends at his Gulf Coast home. He had a knack for finding joy in life’s simple pleasure; those close to him will fondly remember his love for a great hamburger paired with an ice-cold Coca-Cola.
He will mostly be remembered for his generosity, compassion and determination, especially in his battle against Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born March 20, 1949 in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late George E. and Anna M. Totman Wolever.
He is survived by his sisters, Susan (Roger) Smith of Powell and Junis (Paul) Clapsaddle of Marysville; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will hold private services at a later date.
