Richard Lee Jenkins was born Jan. 30, 1946, and passed away in his home on June 9, 2017, with friends and family by his side after a short battle with cancer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard C. Jenkins and Martha Dunham Jenkins; four siblings; and his paternal grandmother, Mary Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Brenda Marlene Douglas Jenkins; many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and very special family friends, Joel and Debby Wilson and their children, Austin (Jenna), Colin, Jocelyn and Jenson; Art and Betty Lloyd and Pam and Gene Jenkins.
Dick was born in Urbana, Ohio where he was raised by his grandmother, Mary Jenkins after the death of his mother at a very young age. He served five years in the 3rd Infantry Division Signal Corps in the U.S. Army, after which he worked at Chi-Vit Corp.
He enjoyed history (especially World and Civil wars), traveling, collecting kerosene lamps and lanterns, and spending time with friends and family.
Memorial services are at 3 p.m. Friday at Jennings Farley Funeral Home & Crematory, 5591 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty, where visitation begins at 1 p.m. Express condolences at www. Jenningsfarley.com.
