Richard B. “Dick” Ritter, 77, of Wellington, Fla., and formerly of Worthington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 2 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, in West Palm Beach, Fla., following a lengthy illness of Lewy Body Dementia with Parkinsonism.
He was born in Bellefontaine on April 5, 1940, to the late Gilbert B. and Elizabeth “Teetsie” Ritter.
On Jan. 22, 1977, he was married to the former Susan Clapper at the Grace Brethren Church of Worthington by Pastor James L. Custer. She survives, along with daughter Tracy (Drew) Rehfuss of Carrollton, Texas, and stepdaughter Jennifer (Brad) Neiheisel of Wellington, Fla.; grandchildren Amber, Chad, Jacob and Luke Rehfuss; brothers, Jerome (Joanne) Ritter of Bellefontaine and Jack (Carol) Ritter of Lancaster; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law. Virginia “Jini” and James Dee.
Dick was a graduate of Bellefontaine High School and Miami University, where he received his bachelor of architecture. Through the following years, he worked at Brubaker/Brandt Inc., Phillip Markwood Architects and had the privilege of being on his own for close to a decade as Richard B. Ritter Architect in Worthington.
Dick loved the Lord, his wife, family, friends, architecture, golf, sailing, reading, playing bridge and leading Bible studies.
Pastor James L. Custer officiates a funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where visitation is an hour prior to the funeral.
Burial follows in Bellefontaine Cemetery
