Benjamin Logan High School agriculture students tried out the latest technology Thursday during a visit from the Rhodes State College’s new “Rhodes in Motion” mobile lab.
The motor coach is equipped to host classes and laboratories for science and technology courses, particularly in the field of Agriculture Technology.
“Rhodes in Motion” is a converted coach bus made into an industry-leading mobile lab on wheels that has the ability to come right to the school’s parking lot. It is equipped with the highest level of technology including a virtual cadaver (Anatomage table), interactive touch screen wall (MultiTaction Screen), industrial robots (Fanuc Robot certification), virtual reality computers (zSpace Inspire), iPads, soil sample collection equipment, SMS Farming Software, and additional innovative pieces of technology.
“We had the privilege of hosting the mobile lab from Rhodes State,” said Lora James, BLHS agricultural education instructor and FFA adviser. “The Ag Foods & Resources students engaged in a hands-on agricultural technology experience that gave them the chance to virtually fly drones and to create an electrical circuit.”
Nathan Ankerman, mobile lab technician demonstrated the virtual cadaver and discussed with the students how this technology makes it possible for students to learn the basics about the musculoskeletal system.
Rhodes instructor Adam Wehrman talked about the importance of agriculture in the West Central Ohio area and how ag technology is such a huge growing industry across Ohio.
“Teaching students to use technology to make better decisions on a farm can change the face of agriculture across the United States.”
