Reba B. DeWitt, 88, of West Liberty, passed away Tuesday morning, November 30, 2021, at her home.
Reba was born in Dysartsville Township, North Carolina on December 29, 1932, to the late Summy T. and Clema Rose (Smith) Bowman. She married John Edward DeWitt on June 1, 1957, in Durham, North Carolina, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2001. Reba was also preceded in death by sisters Bernice L. Elliott and Betty A. McNeely.
Reba is survived by daughter Jennifer D. Maeser of Seattle, WA; sons: John E. (Victoria Mosse) DeWitt, Jr. of Joseph, Ore, David C. (Sandy Dill) DeWitt of Roswell, GA, and Stephen J. (Andra) DeVoght of Vashon Island, WA; four grandchildren: Kendra and Chase Maeser, Neve’ and Aven DeVoght; her twin brother Robert H. Bowman of North Carolina; two sisters: Dorothy Hope Gardin and Lois Marie Moody, both of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Reba attended West Liberty United Church of Christ and was active with the Missionary Aide and Monday Afternoon Club. She attended Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Over the years, Ruth supported the Children’s Hospital through TWIG in Columbus.
A celebration of Reba’s life will be Sunday, December 12, at 2 p.m. at the West Liberty United Church of Christ, 212 Newell St. West Liberty, OH, 43357. She will be interred at Jenkins Chapel Cemetery, Champaign County, in a private family ceremony.
