Rance Jay Harp, 59, of Kenton, passed away in his home surrounded by his family at 3:48 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2017.
He was born in Kenton on June 2, 1958, to Ted and Wilma Gardner Harp. His mother, Wilma Haven, survives in Kenton. Rance married Lori Jordan on June 30, 1984 and she survives in Kenton.
Rance is also survived by his children, Brandon (Lindsay) Harp, Jared Harp and Sara (Matthew) Harp-Stasko, all of Columbus; his pride and joy grandson, Liam Jay Harp; brothers, Marlon (Deb) Harp of Ada, Chris (Jackie) Kuhn of Vaughnsville, and David Kuhn (Bonnie Baughman) of Ridgeway; and sisters, Penny (Greg) Ansley of Ada, Peggy (Lyle) Heberling of Ridgeway, Marie (Lou) Perez of Marysville, and Cindy (Charlie) Roberts of Richwood.
Rance was a 1977 graduate of Kenton High School. He retired from Honda where he was an assistant manager.
Rance was an avid hunter and farmer of organic crops. He will be remembered as a loving husband, exceptional father, amazing “pappa” and a loyal friend. Those who knew him will never forget his endless generosity and heart of gold. He was also well known as a former Hardin County Spelling Bee champion.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
