West Liberty Village Council is facing another time crunch regarding its displaced police station.
In a regular meeting Monday, council members seriously considered paying a local building owner a $10,000 down payment to keep their latest preferred location from being listed with a Realtor and offered for sale to the public.
The property in question is an existing structure at 111 Runkle St., according to the Logan County Auditor’s Office Web site. It is currently owned by Lowell Buck, with whom the council has been negotiating for a few months over sale of the building.
According to Monday’s discussion, the asking price for the building is about $130,000. Council estimated another $100,000 or so to renovate the inside of the structure to prepare it for use as a police department.
