CLEVELAND (AP) — A teenager found slain on a Cleveland street may have been the victim of a carjacking, police said.
Cleveland police said the victim, possibly a juvenile 14 to 16 years old, was found lying in the middle of an intersection in the city just before 10 p.m. Monday. Paramedics took him to MetroHealth, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said preliminary information indicates that the victim was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection when an unknown male ran up to the car and entered the rear seat. Residents then heard gunshots and the victim was found lying in the intersection and the vehicle was gone, police said.
Minutes earlier, police said, a 31-year-old man was found shot to death on the porch of a home three blocks away, but it’s unclear whether the two cases are related.
Cleveland.com reports that over the Memorial Day weekend in the city, a dozen people were shot and four were killed, with three others injured in stabbings.
