Riverside’s softball team overwhelmed visiting Upper Scioto Valley on Wednesday and ran away with a 13-3 win in five innings during Northwest Central Conference action.
The Pirates boost their record to 19-1 on the season.
Riverside jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning. USV scored two runs in the top of the second inning only to see the Pirates add four more runs in the bottom of the second for a 9-2 advantage.
The Pirates continued to pull away in the fourth inning with three runs to build a 12-2 score. The Rams scored a run in the top of the fifth inning, but the Pirates matched it with a run in the bottom of the frame to lock up a run-rule win.
Lauryn Davis fueled the win for Riverside. She went 2-3 at the plate with a home run, a double and four RBI. Davis also recorded the win in the pitching circle with five strikeouts and two walks.
