Paul D. Krouse, 83, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday Aug. 10, 2016, at his residence.
He was born in Bellefontaine on March 11, 1933. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Paul R. Krouse and a brother, John Krouse.
On Dec. 16, 1951, he married the former Shirley Mae Matthews in Belle Center, and she preceded him in death Dec. 20, 1994.
Paul is survived by four children, Michael Paul Krouse, Cindy Baughn, Russell Edward Krouse and Jodi Steinke Lewis; 12 grandchildren, Marki Miller, Michael Paul Krouse II, Abbi-Beth Vance, Robert Baughn, Thomas Baughn, Melanie Evanoff, Russell Krouse, Dylan Steinke, Dalton Steinke, Makenna Krouse, Adyson Krouse and Jackson Krouse; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Carol Arbogast and Sharon Brentlinger; and a sister-in-law, Sue Oder.
Paul was a graduate of Belle Center High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War and received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He continued his military career in the U.S. Army National Guard for 30 years, retiring in 1980 as Command Sergeant Major.
He then worked in outside sales for Erb Lumber, PK Lumber and most recently retired from Ohio Lumber.
He was a member of VFW Post 1080 and American Legion Harold Kerr Post 173, both in Bellefontaine, Doyle R Miller Amvets Post 39 and Indian Lake Moose Lodge 533, both in Lakeview, and the BPOE. Paul enjoyed golfing, reading and watching sports but most of all spending time with his family.
Pastor Gary Bragg begins funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at Shoffstall Funeral Home North Chapel, 115 N. Main St., Lakeview, where visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army and Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
