One individual was cited, and another arrested for violating his probation following a traffic stop executed around 3:45 p.m., Thursday, April 4, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.
Matthew Bugg, 31, of East Liberty, was ticketed for driving without a license, and Jessie Case, 33, of Bellefontaine, was arrested for violating terms and conditions of his probation.
An officer on traffic patrol in the area of Garfield Avenue near west Sandusky Avenue observed a vehicle with dark window tint turn left onto Garfield Avenue from Lawrence Street. The vehicle reportedly had a temporary registration tag affixed to the rear window, but police could not read it.
A traffic stop was initiated and contact was made with the driver, Bugg, who admitted to police he did not have a valid driver’s license. The vehicle and its occupants were checked for weapons and contraband, but nothing illegal was found inside the car.
Bugg was issued a citation for driver under suspension and released to a valid driver.
Case reportedly told officers he was on community control and contact was made with his probation officer, who told police he had not been checking in as necessary and requested that Case be apprehended. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail without incident.
