Fairbanks’ volleyball team took care of business Thursday as it swept host Riverside for a three-set victory 25-17, 25-14, 25-16 in a non-league contest.

The loss moves the Pirates to 2-1 on the season.
Marissa Davis led Riverside’s efforts with 14 kills and 16 digs. Kristin Davidson had 11 digs, Shelby Giles had four kills, Helena Faulder tallied 10 assists and Alexis Snow had eight assists.
The Pirates also lost the junior varsity match in two sets 25-2, 25-5.
Riverside travels to Parkway on Saturday.
Lakers grab first win
Indian Lake’s volleyball team picked up its first win of the season Thursday with a four-set win over host Kenton 25-20, 25-14, 20-25, 25-16 in a non-league matchup.
The Lakers move their record to 1-1 on the season.
Aubrey Grider sparked Indian Lake with six kills and four aces. Katelyn Hogan had 12 digs, Sammi Miller had six digs, Morgan Evlisizor recorded eight kills and two aces, Olivia Amspaugh tallied eight kills and Brooke Lewis added six kills.
Indian Lake hosts Greenon on Tuesday for a Central Buckeye Conference contest.
West Jeff tops Triad
West Jefferson’s volleyball team rallied for a five-set victory over host Triad on Thursday 22-25, 17-25, 25-18, 25-23, 15-13 in a non-league contest.
The Cardinals are now 1-1 on the season.
Madison Dolby paced the Cardinal with 20 kills, 14 points, 19 assists and 12 digs. Bri Eaton had 11 kills, Caleigh Phelps tallied 10 points, nine kills and 13 assists, Ali Dixon had 11 digs and 14 points and Kayleigh Rice added 10 digs.
In junior varsity action, West Jefferson won 19-25, 25-19, 25-23.
Triad travels to North Union on Saturday for a tri-match.
