Jeffrey Brooks, 59, of Russells Point, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to an incident Thursday afternoon.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of State Route 366 and Marion Drive about 12:55 p.m. The vehicle reportedly was parked with the engine running in a wooded lot several hundred feet off the roadway.
Upon making contact with the driver, signs of intoxication were observed. Brooks submitted to field sobriety tests and subsequently was placed under arrest.
Several open beers were located in his vehicle, and he also received an open container citation.
Once at the jail, the defendant refused to take a chemical test. He was then released to a sober driver.
