Saving architectural features of the former Bellefontaine Post Office would neither be cost effective nor time efficient, Logan County Commissioners learned Thursday after a tour of the dilapidated structure.

Commissioner Tony Core, John Bayliss and Dustin Wickersham walked through the building at the southwest corner of Chillicothe Avenue and Detroit Street with Doug Hooper of Midstate Contractors Inc.
Midstate has experience renovating historical buildings and is currently working on the Logan County Courthouse renovation.
Mr. Hooper said facade blocks with medallions, the front granite steps, iron work and carved stone masonry arches and columns would have little value on the open market.
