A motorists was charged Monday after an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department initiated a traffic stop outside the city limits.
Michael W. Predmore, 61, of 1113 N. County Road 25, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs by a deputy of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
At 11:10 p.m., city officers were warned of a motorist in a white pickup truck with a bed topper driving erratically on State Route 47 toward Bellefontaine from the west.
A city officer observed the pickup eastbound into the city and followed. The officer reported the vehicle was over the center line of the road and appeared to be traveling much faster than 55 mph. The motorist continued to drive over the center line and the fog line on the right side of Sandusky Avenue.
The officer initiated a stop and soon approached Predmore. The motorist was disheveled and appeared to be impaired but not by alcohol.
Predmore acknowledged taking multiple pills including a prescription narcotic pain reliever, a prescription muscle relaxer, heart and blood pressure medication and a sleeping
A deputy, who had been trying to track down the erratic motorist, arrived on scene and took over the investigation.
Both lawmen observed an initial field sobriety test which indicated Predmore was impaired. They noted he swayed while standing still during the gaze nystagmus review. The motorist was unable to maintain his balance for other tests.
He was arrested and transported in the Logan County Jail.
Man found passed out on tracks
Jared McVay, 37, at large, was arrested Wednesday for public intoxication.
He was found passed out on railroad tracks north of Water Avenue around 3:30 p.m. with empty containers of alcohol on the ground around him.
A Bellefontaine squad also responded to the scene. He refused transport to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment.
He was taken into custody and lodged in jail.
