Nila Juanita Hone, 103, of West Liberty, passed away Saturday afternoon, Jan. 23, 2021, at Green Hills Care Center.
Juanita was born in West Liberty on Oct. 13, 1917, to the late Irvie Melvin and Alma Leigh (Jacobs) Herford. She married Walter Emerson Hone on Oct. 27, 1935, in Springfield, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1984. Juanita was also preceded in death by her children: Donald E. Hone, Ronald E. Hone, N. Jean Green, and Bonnie Y. Ward; sisters: Pauline Snyder, Evelyn Dill, Phyllis Hartle, Ruth Houchin Stahler; brothers: Kenneth, Maurice, Leo, Herman, and Melvin Herford; grandson Russell Huber; great-grandchildren Benjamin Rorrer and Sara Hone.
Juanita is survived by seven grandchildren: Beverly (Kenneth) Rorrer, Connie (David) Hill, Shelly (James) Wolf, Donald (Rhonda) Hone, Jenny (Duane) Wolf, Deena (Josh) O’Reilly, and Syndi (Adam) Brunson; step-grandchildren: Dale Ward, Jon Ward, Shannon Wenger; 27 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law Max Green; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Juanita was a homemaker and a long-time member of the Zanesfield United Methodist Church where she also belonged to the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Blue Jacket Post #599 American Legion Auxiliary, the Logan County Genealogical Society, and the Zanesfield Chamber of Commerce.
Pastor Wayne Downing will officiate Juanita’s funeral service on Saturday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, where visitation will be conducted one hour prior. Burial will be in Zanesfield Cemetery. Due to current pandemic orders, please be symptom free, practice social distancing, and consider wearing a mask.
