Representatives from the National Board for Case Management and the American Case Management Association announce that James W. Schwind, MSW, LISW-S, ACM, has successfully completed the national certification examination for Case Management Administration.
Schwind has been employed at Mary Rutan Hospital since 1982 and currently serves as the director of the care coordination department. He and his wife, Linda, reside in Ada
This certification reflects expertise and professional commitment to Health Care Delivery Systems Case Management. Schwind is now formally recognized as a Certified Case Management Administrator.
To sit for the examination, the professional must meet established educational standards and have experience in health care case management. The exam covers content areas of: management, health care laws and regulations, case management practices and the continuum of care, tools for case management practice and use of data to create information, understanding and improvements.
Schwind completed his undergraduate studies at Ohio Northern University and obtained his graduate degree from The Ohio State University, College of Social Work. He is a licensed independent social worker in the State of Ohio, holding supervisor designation.
He is a charter member of the American Case Management Association and also holds memberships in the Case Management Society of America and the National Association of Social Workers.
The immediate past president of the Ohio Chapter of the American Case Management Association, Schwind is serving his second term as a member of the Board of Directors at Community Health and Wellness Partners of Logan County. He also continues to serve as a member of the Clark State Community College Social Service Advisory Board in Springfield.
At Mary Rutan Hospital, Schwind is a founding member and current chairperson of the Bioethics Committee, chairs the Utilization Review committee and is a member of the Quality Council. He is a long term member of the Mary Rutan Hospital Management Team.
ln addition to overseeing the Care Coordination Department, Schwind provides supervision for the Logan County Cancer Society and the hospital’s Medication Assistance Program. He balances administrative and clinical duties, providing direct case management services to patients and families, as well as providing crisis and pre-screening evaluations in the Emergency Department.
