A Cincinnati-area man, who allegedly drove his car into a parked Logan County Sheriff’s cruiser Saturday, faces first-degree felony charges of felonious assault and attempted murder.
Marquise Vann, 26, currently housed in a Dayton mental health facility, was named in indictments handed up Tuesday by Logan County grand jury.
According to troopers of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Vann was operating a car northbound on State Route 235 when he drove left of center and into the parking lot of Quincy Handy Mart, 105 Carlisle St., Quincy, around 10:10 p.m. His car struck the right front of Deputy Brandi Miles’ cruiser, causing heavy damage to both vehicles.
Miles was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment and later released.
Vann also sustained minor injuries and was transported to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney for treatment and mental health evaluations.
His family members reportedly contacted law enforcement prior to the incident to report Vann had made suicidal comments.
He was cooperative with deputies and emergency personnel at the scene and, according to troopers, continued to cooperate with hospital staff.
Squads from Riverside, Indian Lake and Quincy responded to the crash along with deputies and troopers.
