Officers of the Russells Point Police Department cited a motorist for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead resulting from a two-car crash that occurred about 5:30 p.m. Friday on east Main Street in Russells Point near Lincoln Boulevard near the McDonald’s restaurant.
Don Tangeman, 60, of Huntsville, reportedly was westbound on east Main Street when he rear-ended another westbound vehicle driven by Alan Leonard, 43, of Dayton.
Witnesses reported that Tangeman was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the westbound stop sign at Main Street and Lincoln Boulevard.
An Indian Lake EMS squad responded to the scene, but neither driver was transported.
Indian Lake Joint Fire District responded and had to mechanically extract the vehicles from each other, when wrecker crews were unable to separate the automobiles.
Washington Township police also assisted. Damage was heavy.
