Key Paul Jenkins, 50, of 412 S. Detroit St., was charged Monday, Dec. 19, with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He also received citations for three driver’s license suspensions and violations.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to Speedway, 329 S. Main St., at 11:40 p.m. after a witness reported the defendant was stumbling around the outside of a construction truck.
Upon arrival, an officer found the truck parked crooked with the engine running and Jenkins sitting in the driver’s seat.
Jenkins failed to roll down the driver’s side window as requested by an officer. The officer opened the door and noted a strong odor of alcohol. The motorist also had watery, glassy, bloodshot eyes. His speech was slow and slurred, the officer reports.
He refused to participate in sobriety testing.
State driving records revealed Jenkins has seven citations for failure reinstate driving privileges; two noncompliance suspensions; and a license forfeiture suspension. He also was convicted of OVI in 2010 and 2016.
He was released to his daughter.

It took just 30 minutes for a Facebook post to provide officers with the identity of a motorist involved in a 3 p.m. hit-skip crash Monday, Dec. 19.
Officers used the popular social media platform to post a photograph from a surveillance video and asked for help identifying the female suspect.
More than 15 people, including her parents, responded and identified Mia A. Fearon, 19, of Bellefontaine, as the driver.
An officer met with Fearon at 8 p.m. and she admitted she was driving a SUV and backed into a parked car near Great Clips, 2232 S. Main St. She said she panicked and drove off.
Surveillance footage was obtained from Smokablez, 2230 S. Main St., showing Fearon entering and then leaving. Once outside, she walked to the SUV, got into the driver’s seat and began backing out, nearly colliding with a southbound silver sedan. She then continues to back up and into the parked car registered to Lori M. Middaugh of Huntsville. The car sustained damage to a taillight and the rear bumper.
She was issued traffic citations for leaving the scene of a crash and improper backing.
