Kameren N. Haley, 25, of Blacklick, was charged Sunday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during a 2:50 a.m. traffic stop.
She also was issued traffic citations for speeding, a marked lanes violation and an improper turn.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department was on patrol northbound and observed a southbound car in the 300 block of south Main Street traveling faster than the posted 25-mph limit. The officer activated the cruiser’s radar and observed speeds of 41, 42 and 43 mph.
The car also was straddling the center dotted white line separating the two southbound lanes. It also crossed over the center double-yellow line as the officer turned to pursue the car which continued accelerating.
The officer caught up to the car as it was turning west onto Lake Avenue. It crossed into the eastbound lanes during the turn.
A traffic stop was initiated near Detroit Street and Haley was identified as the driver. The officer reported a strong odor of alcohol coming and noted Haley’s eyes were bloodshot and glossy.
Field sobriety tests indicated she was impaired and she taken into custody. Her breathalyzer sample was recorded at 0.138.
She was released to a sober friend.
