HAYNES |
Christopher Haynes, 25, of Russells Point, was arrested Thursday on multiple charges including identity fraud following a traffic stop initiated about 7:34 p.m. in the 1100 block of west Sandusky Avenue.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department on patrol in that area observed the suspect traveling westbound with an expired registration on his vehicle.
Upon making contact with the suspect, he reportedly attempted to mislead officers, claiming to be his older brother and providing fraudulent documentation, including his brother’s driver’s license and insurance card.
Officers recognized the suspect, as they have previously dealt with him. Administrators at the Logan County Jail were contacted and personal identifiers including the suspect’s tattoos were matched with previous booking information at the jail.
A search of the car turned up three liquid marijuana “dabs,” a digital scale and Suboxone doses for which a valid prescription could not be produced. The suspect was transported to the jail and lodged without incident. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
• Dilys Janes, 29, of 600 Florence Ave., was jailed on a charge of public intoxication after she was found sitting in the parking lot at NEX Transport, 1350 W. Sandusky Ave., about 11:55 p.m. Thursday.
The woman denied having consumed alcohol, but officers noted an odor of alcohol from her breath, and she was unsteady on her feet, according to a report.
She was lodged in jail.
