Terry L. Doseck, 57, of North Canton, was flown by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton for treatment of serious injuries sustained in a crash about 7:40 p.m. Saturday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating an eastbound motorcycle on State Route 720 when he failed to negotiate a curve and drove off the right side of the road, coming to rest in a yard at 15617 S.R. 720.
According to the crash report, Doseck was not wearing a helmet and drug or alcohol impairment may be been a factor in the crash.
Damage was heavy to the motorcycle, which was towed from the scene. Deputies continue to investigate the crash and have not yet issued any citations.
• James W. Smith, 43, of Mount Vernon, was transported by Riverside EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in a Friday afternoon crash.
Deputies report he was operating an eastbound 2019 Chevrolet Traverse on west State Route 47 about 3:10 p.m. when he traveled off the north side of the road and struck a stop sign, continuing eastbound and crossing north County Road 23. The sport utility vehicle then struck a utility support pole and a residential fence.
Damage was heavy to the SUV, which was towed from the scene. The driver was cited for failure to control and was not wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.
• Thomas A. DeJean, 55, of Bucyrus, was treated at the scene of a rollover crash Monday afternoon by Indian Lake EMS for minor injuries, but was not transported from the scene.
Deputies report DeJean was operating a southbound 2002 Chevrolet Tracker on State Route 235 near Elm Street in Stokes Township about 4:45 p.m. A 2017 Dodge Ram pickup operated by Brandon R. Beck, 29, of Findlay, was backing out of a private drive at that location and once on S.R. 235, his vehicle was struck by the DeJean’s sport utility vehicle.
Following the impact, the SUV traveled off the right side of the road and the vehicle overturned three times.
Beck did not report any injuries. He was cited for right of way from a private drive and both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Damage was heavy to the SUV and light to the pickup.
Woman charged with OVI
Mary C. Delong, 55, of 7605 County Road 91, Lewistown, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a traffic stop about 1:15 a.m. Sunday.
Deputies on patrol on north S.R. 235 near Township Road 217 observed her vehicle being operated with only one functional headlight and initiated the stop. While speaking with the driver, Delong, she told deputies she had been at a bar in DeGraff and had consumed three seltzer beers.
She submitted to field sobriety tests and was transported to the Logan County Jail, where she refused to take a breath test. She was booked into the jail on a probation violation and also was cited for driving with only one headlight.
Man lodged after cemetery incident
Jeremiah J. Herzog, 46, of Wapakoneta, was charged with disorderly conduct related to an incident Sunday evening at the Harrod Cemetery.
Deputies responded to the cemetery about 10:35 p.m. after a Huntsville EMS paramedic reported observing Herzog laying next to his vehicle. After the paramedic woke up Herzog, he told the paramedic that he had been drinking “but not driving.”
When deputies arrived, the defendant told them he had been mushroom hunting in the area. Deputies observed that he was slurring his words and was unsteady on his feet.
He told deputies that he had consumed alcohol in the cemetery. Herzog was placed under arrest and transported to the jail.
