Daniel I. Johnson, 25, of Mt. Victory, was flown by medical helicopter to OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus for treatment of suspected serious injuries sustained in a crash Thursday morning.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Brittny A. Piper, 42, of Belle Center, was operating an eastbound 2013 Toyota Highlander on County Road 25 and stopped at the intersection of County Road 9.
She reportedly failed to yield from the stop sign and pulled into the path of a southbound 2009 Honda motorcycle operated by Johnson, which struck her sport utility vehicle. The impact sent the SUV off the northeast side of the intersection.
Deputies said Johnson was wearing a helmet and Piper was wearing a seat belt.
Damage was heavy to both vehicles.
Pair charged with possession of meth
Robert E. Kelso, 42, of Marysville, and Ashley M. Spaulding, 31, of Columbus, each were charged with possession of methamphetamine and receiving stolen property during an incident Thursday in East Liberty.
Deputies responded about 1 p.m. to 9765 E. Foundry St., East Liberty, on a report of suspicious activity and a man and woman in and out of a vehicle and walking around the home.
Upon arrival, deputies found that the temporary tags on the Honda minivan did not match the vehicle, and the VIN on the vehicle came back to a stolen vehicle in Columbus.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies received a container with suspected methamphetamine and a glass meth pipe with white residue.
When asked about whether she had smoked meth, Spaulding told deputies she had been smoking just prior to their arrival.
Kelso told deputies he had been borrowing the minivan from a named individual and thought it might be stolen.
Both defendants were placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail.
Deputies contacted the Columbus Police Department about the stolen minivan, which was transported to the sheriff’s office impound lot.
