DAULTON MOSBARGER |
Ohio State’s baseball team made a thrilling run to win the Big 10 baseball tournament over the weekend in Nebraska, and a former area standout was part of it.
Bellefontaine graduate Daulton Mosbarger, a senior for the Buckeyes who transferred this year after playing three years at Akron, pitched a solid 4 1/3 innings in Ohio State’s 3-2 10-inning win over Michigan State on Saturday that kept the team alive in the tourney.
Making his first start against a Big 10 opponent, Mosbarger scattered six hits, allowed two runs and struck out five.
Ohio State went on to beat the Spartans again Sunday, this time 7-3 to reach the championship game against Iowa.
The Buckeyes had lost to Iowa 5-4 on Friday, but got revenge with an 8-7 victory over the Hawkeyes on Sunday to win the Big 10 tourney title and grab an automatic berth in the NCAA regional tournament.
