Mary Porter, 80, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born in Columbus on Sept. 30, 1937, to the late Laras Cecil and Mary E. Leeth Runyan and was raised in Springfield.
On Jan. 30, 1955, she married Thomas W. Porter and her preceded her in death Nov. 27, 2014, after 59 years of marriage.
Mary is survived by her five children, Debra (William) Wilson of Bellefontaine, Gina Scheff of West Liberty, Tina (John) Wheatley of Beebe, Ark., and Virginia (Tadd) Chaney and Noah (Pamela) Dillon, both of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and another great-grandchild eagerly anticipated; and many nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Heather Hall; a son-in-law, David Scheff; two sisters, Margaret Kennedy and Virginia Clark; and a brother, James Runyan.
A homemaker, Mary enjoyed taking care of her yard and flowers. She loved fishing at Indian Lake and making crafts for the annual Fall Festival at the Indian Lake State Park. Mary most especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Calling is at noon Wednesday, Sept. 12, prior to the 1 p.m. funer- al service in Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St., DeGraff. Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates and burial follows in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty.
