Martha B. Waters, 93, of McKinney, Texas, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019, at Medical City Plano in Plano, Texas.
Martha was born Aug. 2, 1925, in Clearwater, Fla., to the late William and Elizabeth Tompkins Burke. On Jan. 24, 1959, in Washington, D.C., she married Hal Waters, and he survives.
Martha and Hal moved to Bellefontaine in 1978. She was a graduate of Florida State University and a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honorary. Martha was employed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation at the FBI Headquarters in Miami, Fla., and Washington, D.C., where she served as secretary to the chief of the Criminal Section. She loved to spend time with her family and spent many happy hours with her friends playing bridge as part of the Bellefontaine Bridge Club. Martha was a gentle spirit with a wonderful sense of humor. She cared deeply for all animals, loving her cats and supporting causes for wildlife.
Also surviving are daughters, Ann (Louise) Tricules of Red Bank, N.J., and Jane (Stephen) Earick of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Brooklyn (Elin) Earick of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Debra Earick of Bellefontaine.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, William (Judith) Burke of Vero Beach, Fla.
A private family burial takes place at Bellefontaine Cemetery on Monday, March 18.
