Marilyn M. Long, 77, of Bucyrus, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Bucyrus Community Hospital, following complications from a recent surgery.
Marilyn was born Aug. 18, 1938, in Bellefontaine, to the late Earnest P. and Effie L. Varner Bush. She also was preceded in death by daughter, Dana VanAntwerp, in 2004; and brother, John Paul Bush.
She was married June 10, 1956, to Harry Long, who survives, along with daughters, Lisa (Lawrence) Preisler of Richmond Heights, Linda (George) Dawson of Mansfield and Denise (Ian) Long of Las Cassas, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shawn (Sarah) Stansbery, Effie (Drea) Stansbery, Shana VanAntwerp and Shannon (Kevin) VanAntwerp; great-grandchildren, Malea and Bristol; and stepgrandchildren, Somer (Rob) Knipp and Allan (Mandie) Stansbery.
Marilyn graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1956 and moved to Bucyrus in 1957. She last worked at and retired from United Bank in Bucyrus. Marilyn was a member of the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, VFW 1899 Ladies Auxiliary and the Bucyrus Methodist Church.
She was a major OSU Buckeyes fan and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians, and she was a great cook. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family which her life revolved around.
A funeral begins at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 10, in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, Bucyrus, where visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charities of the donors’ choices.
