Margaret Jean Thackery, 94, of Bellefontaine, passed away Friday evening, March 26, 2021, at Logan Acres Care Center.
Peggy was born in Bellefontaine on April 13, 1926, to the late James Bernard and Noel Pauline (Davis) O’Rielley. She married Jay Bower Thackery on May 29, 1948, in Bellefontaine, and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1991. Peggy was also preceded in death by brothers Frank Davis O’Rielley and James Ernest O’Rielley, and nephew John Michael O’Rielley.
Peggy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Stephen Jay and Martha Thackery of Salisbury, North Carolina; grandson Scott Matthew Thackery of Salisbury, North Carolina; sister and brother-in-law Judith Pauline and Harold Cooper of Bellefontaine; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A 1944 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, Peggy was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, and the Logan County Senior Center. She worked as a secretary for the Logan County Children’s Services for 23 years, before retiring in 1991.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine. Fr. Shawn Landenwitch will celebrate the funeral mass on Wednesday, March 31, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
