MURRAY |
A man whose late March trial ended in a 6-6 hung jury has been reindicted by a Logan County grand jury for the alleged rape of a woman in June at Froggy’s, 11065 County Road 239, Lakeview.
Brandon M. Murray, 35, of Medway, has been charged with four counts of rape, a first-degree felony; sexual battery, a third-degree felony; and four counts of gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony.
The alleged victim was a 25-year-old woman who was an acquaintance of Murray and his wife, detectives with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report in court documents.
In June, Murray, his wife and the victim traveled to Logan County with a group of people and they all were drinking at Froggy’s swim-up bar, according to the criminal complaint. At the end of the night, the victim was “extremely intoxicated,” and was sitting in a vehicle with Murray and his wife waiting for the rest of their group and the designated driver.
Murray’s wife passed out and that’s when he allegedly raped the victim.
There was a 10-minute window between the time the alleged sexual assault occurred and the group returned to the car.
The victim reported the allegations a month later.
The suspect has denied the allegations and claims it was consensual.
