A man who made a false burglary report at his home to cover up a theft from his parents admitted his guilt Monday in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
Mark Klinker, 37, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to three years community control, the probation incentive program and ordered to pay a $250 fine, restitution, court costs and attorney fees for theft.
He and his wife, Angela, 35, were charged after a reporting a burglary at their residence in August.
Mr. Klinker told deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office that interrupted a burglary at the residence he shares with his wife, son and his parents. He said jewelry and cash were taken from his parents’ portion of the residence and said a suspect fled from a bedroom and exited the residence by using a sliding door. He reported that his parents were out of town when this incident took place.
After investigating the incident, deputies believed the report was falsified and charged the couple with the theft.
Mrs. Klinker is awaiting trial on a receiving stolen property charge.

• A man who led police on a chase to avoid a speeding ticket got local jail time, probation, a lengthy license suspension and hefty fines for failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.
Judge Mark S. O’Connor ordered Dustin Oakley, 26, of Belle Center, o spend three months in the Logan County Jail, complete two years community control, surrender his operator’s license for three years and pay a $1,000 fine and court costs.
He was arrested by officers of the Washington Township Police Department in late September after leading them on a chase through Russells Point that began with a routine traffic stop for speeding. He reportedly told officers at the time that he tried to elude them to avoid getting a speeding ticket.

• Brett Eley, 30, of Wapakoneta, was sentenced three years community control and ordered to pay a $500 fine and court costs for carrying a concealed weapon.
He was one of three men charged in connection with an April 28 shooting at Lakeview.
He was found shortly after deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a shooting at 8981 Hilltop Drive, Lakeview and was charged with CCW and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The alleged shooter, Jason M. Davidson, 39, of that address was later located and indicted for felonious assault with a gun specification, a second-degree felony; tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony; having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony; receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony; theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony; theft, a fifth-degree felony; and misdemeanor theft. He is now being sought on a warrant.
Michael E. Vogler, 51, also of the Lakeview address, has pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, and a third-degree felony charge of having weapons under disability and is awaiting sentencing.
• David Horn, II, 38, of Lima, was sentenced to fifteen months in prison for identity fraud.
• David Young, 37, of Columbus was sentenced to the West Central Community Based Correctional Facility, five years community control and ordered to pay court costs for failure to provide change of address notification.
• John Gariety, 21, of Lancaster, was sentenced to two years community control and ordered to pay a $250 fine, court cost and attorney fees for theft.
Pleas entered
Robert Keene Jr., 23, of Dayton pleaded guilty to domestic violence, in connection with an April 26 incident in which he slapped a woman for not holding a door open for him.
A passerby witnessed the incident and he was located walking with the victim Carlee L. Jones, also of Dayton, in the area of 1100 Heritage Court that afternoon.
She had visible signs of abuse, including blood on her face.
• Greg Good, 35, of Lakeview pleaded guilty to possession of drugs and a community control violation.
• Jason Hutson, 27, of Hilliard pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property.
• Corie Anderson, 28, of Bellefontaine, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs.
Mr. Keene, Mr. Good and Mr. Hutson will be sentenced Jan. 27 while sentencing for Mr. Anderson was set for Jan. 3.
