Bradley W. Johnston, 33, of 420 E. Auburn Ave., was arrested Sunday for allegedly threatening to kill a neighbor who called officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department regarding Johnston’s dogs barking.
Officers responded twice to complaints on Sunday, the last just before 11 p.m. Johnston has been warned and cited for the barking in the past.
The neighbor told officers Johnston has threatened to assault him over past complaints and he was reluctant to call police.
Officers met with Johnston, issued him a citation for barking dog and warned him regarding threats he yelled inside the home as officers stood on the front porch.
Shortly after leaving, the neighbor called police to report Johnston was outside the residence yelling he would kill the neighbor.
Johnston was taken into custody and lodged in the Logan County Jail for aggravated menacing.
Motor charged with OVI
Sara D. Hoffman, 32, at large, was charged Sunday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and possession of marijuana drug paraphernalia.
She also was issued traffic citations for speeding, driving under suspension, a stop sign violation and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
She was stopped around 4:30 a.m. after an officer on eastbound patrol on east Lake Avenue used radar to track her car at 44 mph in a 25-mph zone. He turned to follow the vehicle and observed it travel past several stop signs before initiating a stop on Belle Meadows Drive
Upon contact, the officer noted an odor of burnt marijuana coming from the car. Hoffman and two passengers were removed from the car so that the officer could conduct a consent search.
Several marijuana pipes were found in the car along with a cut straw, small remnants of marijuana and open containers of alcohol. Her passengers were allowed to walk to their nearby residence.
Field sobriety tests indicated she was impaired mostly likely from smoking marijuana. She was asked to submit a urine sample for analysis. She declined.
Hoffman was lodged in jail. It was noted in reports that Hoffman had a prior OVI conviction.
Window damaged
An employee of Logan County Job and Family Services, 211 E. Columbus Ave., reported Monday morning that a fist-sized rock was thrown through a front window at the facility. The employee did not know of any suspect who might have caused the damage.
