Donald Steed III, 44, of Russells Point, was charged Wednesday with domestic violence and assault.
July 21, officers of the Russells Point Police Department initially observed a 31-year-old female victim walking down the street with a noticeable black eye. When they turned around to relocate her, she could not be found.
Then this week on Wednesday, officers found the same resident walking down the street and began speaking with her about the injury. They learned she had been assaulted by Steed after she “failed to properly roll a cigarette for him.”
She told officers she was unable to call police because Steed often takes her phone when he’s angry.
While speaking with the resident, Steed pulled into the Rite Aid parking lot. Officers questioned the defendant, who claimed to not know what officers were talking about despite the obvious injury to the victim.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail. Officers of the Washington Township Police Department assisted at the scene.
• Tara Beaver, 44, Sidney, was charged with domestic violence related to an incident early Wednesday morning.
Officers responded about 2:40 a.m. to the 100 block of Sunnyside Ave., Russells Point, for a loud noise complaint.
Once officers arrived on scene, they met with the caller. The caller advised the officers of the upstairs neighbors were fighting and arguing.
Officers met with Beaver and Jasin Rorabaugh, who reportedly were arguing and intoxicated. Officers learned the argument escalated to the point where Beaver struck Rorabaugh twice while he was holding a small child.
Rorabaugh had minor injuries to his eye.
Beaver was transported to the jail. Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
