CRAMER |
Richard W. Cramer, 35, at large, was charged Monday with felony counts of theft from the elderly and forgery related to the theft and forgery of a check.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office first responded Wednesday to 3983 N. County Road 31, Bellefontaine, to speak with residents Tina Schaffer and her mother, Jackie Gregg, 78.
They reported that someone had taken a check from Ms. Gregg’s checkbook, and the check had been cashed.
Monday afternoon, Ms. Schaffer said she had identified the suspect who had stolen from her mother as Mr. Cramer, and he reportedly was on his way to the residence to pick up some clothing.
Deputies arrived and observed Mr. Cramer’s vehicle drive by the residence. A traffic stop was initiated, and the defendant admitted to taking a check from Ms. Gregg and forging it. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
