Paul B. Carter, 51, of 16093 Maple Ave., Belle Center, was charged with domestic violence related to an incident at his residence Nov. 25.
Deputies responded about 12:15 a.m. to a report from his live-in girlfriend that Carter had grabbed her by the throat and that he was making threats and creating a disturbance.
While at the residence, his girlfriend showed deputies a video from that evening that reportedly showed him lunging toward her and acting aggressively.
When Carter found out that his girlfriend was calling 911, he reportedly left the residence and went outside. Deputies could not find him on the property at that time, but were informed about 6:50 a.m. that he had returned. He was placed under arrest and transported to the jail.
Teen charged with OVI
Corbin A. Hamaker, 18, of 225 W. Miami St., DeGraff, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a traffic stop early Saturday morning.
A deputy of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol in the area of Lake Avenue in Bellefontaine about 1:50 a.m. reportedly observed his vehicle operating with its high beam headlights on while passing the deputy’s cruiser. A traffic stop was conducted in the area of Lake Avenue and south Detroit Street.
While speaking with the driver, Hamaker, deputies noticed an odor of alcohol on his person. He told deputies he had consumed a a couple beers several hours prior to driving.
The defendant submitted to field sobriety testing and was transported to the Logan County Jail, where he submitted to a breath test, with a result of 0.016 blood alcohol content, just under the legal limit for an 18-year-old, deputies said. He also was cited for failure to dim headlights and was released to a family member.
• Landon A. Williams, 25, of 470 Pimtown Road, West Liberty, was charged with OVI relating to a traffic stop the morning of Nov. 25 along south U.S. Route 68.
Deputies on patrol about 2:30 a.m. reportedly observed a speed violation with his vehicle and initiated the stop, pulling into a driveway at Midwest Foot Care, 3722 S. U.S. 68, Bellefontaine.
While speaking with the driver, Williams, deputies noticed signs of impairment and administered a horizontal gaze nystagmus test. He refused to take a chemical breath test.
He also was cited for speed and expired registration. He was released to a sober person at the scene.
