Virgil Dean Pack, 42, of Dayton, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin and conveyance of drugs into a detention facility related to an incident Monday evening.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol about 8:40 p.m. in the area of Township Road 239 and U.S. Route 33 observed his vehicle traveling through the intersection, losing control, and then become stuck in the ditch on T.R. 239.
Officers responded to offer assistance, and identified the driver as Pack, and he advised he was not a valid driver.
The defendant was asked to exit the vehicle, and officers observed him use his right arm to try and hide an object beside him. Officers conducted a pat down search of Pack and located an empty gun holster.
Officers also found a used hypodermic needle sitting on the driver’s seat. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and officers located a small baggie that contained two white crystal rock pieces believed to be methamphetamine. Officers also located used hypodermic needle caps and 9 mm ammo casings on the driver’s side floorboard.
Pack was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail. While being searched at the jail, correction officers located suspected methamphetamine inside the pocket of Pack‘s sweater and a bag of suspected heroin inside his pants pocket.
The defendant also is charged with possession of drug abuse instruments and was cited for driving without a license, a 12-point suspension, failure to reinstate, failure to control, and fictitious registration, as the license plates did not match the vehicle.
