Lucy C. Kerr Brown went home to be with her Lord on July 10, 2016. She was born Aug. 10, 1932, in Cincinnati to the late Clarence E. Jr. and Lucy E. Mead Kerr.
She attended Dale Park Elementary in Mariemont and graduated from Mariemont High School in 1950. Lucy continued her education by attending and graduating from Miami University with a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education in the 1950s.
For 34 years she taught school in Cincinnati Public Schools, Mason Local Schools, Bellefontaine City Schools, Graham Local Schools, and she retired in 1995 from Calvary Christian School in Bellefontaine
After marrying Emerson “Bud” Brown, who survives, she and her family camped extensively in their trailers in nearly all the 50 states. Sons, Christopher Dean (Gloria) and Aaron Lee (Ruth) so enjoyed these adventures. A favorite “retirement” trip included a month in Australia and New Zealand.
Completing their extended family are two granddaughters, Rachel Carpenter and Michelle Brown; two grandsons, Matthew Brown and Kevin Brown; along with seven great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons very dear to her heart.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she enjoyed the Sunday School teachings of Jim Headings and Roy Bragg along with the ministry of Pastor Jeff Willetts. Of all the teaching years, she enjoyed teaching at Calvary Christian School the most. She had the opportunity to change many lives while teaching at Calvary Christian School. To teach there was the love of her life. She always said that teaching at Calvary Christian School was like “having your cake and eating it also.”
Lucy also was a past member of Eastern Star and was active in the local Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, 1140 Rush Avenue, Bellefontaine, where Pastors Larry Czerniak and Jeffory Willetts officiate a funeral at 11 a.m. Friday, with additional visitation an hour prior to the service.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home in Bellefontaine.
