Shawn M. Scott, 48, of 500 Gunntown Road, Apt. D11, was arrested Saturday, Nov. 5, for disturbing the peace, persistent disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to the apartment complex at 4:35 a.m. and, upon entering the building, could hear amplified music. Scott has received repeated warnings to keep his stereo system turned down and continues to keep the volume up disturbing other tenants of the building.
He was issued a summons for disturbing the peace and officers left the area. They returned at 5:15 a.m. after Scott resumed to violate the rights of the residents with loud music.
An officer noted the volume seemed greater than the previous incident.
Officers met once again with Scott at his residence. He became agitated with officers and began yelling. He was uncooperative with officers and struggled with them as they handcuffed him. He was removed from his apartment and transported to the Logan County Jail.
Passenger arrested on warrants
Jacqueline S. Edmister, 49, of 402 1/2 E. Columbus Ave., was charged Saturday, Nov. 5, with possession of methamphetamine and served felony warrants for possession of cocaine and illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse into a jail.
She was a passenger in a sport utility vehicle operated by Danielle Carpenter, 33, of 416 W. Center St., West Mansfield, who was stopped and cited for running a red light at 8:15 p.m. at Sandusky Avenue and Detroit Street.
The officer who initiated the stop recognized Edmister from a previous traffic stop which led to the felony warrants. She was instructed to exit the SUV and informed she was under arrest. She admitted methamphetamine was concealed in her bra and removed the drugs to hand over to the officer.
She was lodged in jail.
Motorist accused of DUI
Daniel E. Hess, 59, of 409 Kelly Way, was charged Sunday, Aug. 6, with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He also was issued traffic citations for no safety belt, an improper turn, failure to drive in the marked lanes of the roadway and failure to use a turn signal.
At 1:45 a.m., an officer on patrol observed Hess in a sport utility vehicle turn south from eastbound Auburn Avenue onto southbound Main Street. He turned into the center lane versus the curb lane as he should have. He also traveled over the center double yellow line before turning eastbound in the westbound lane of Spring Avenue.
At Hamilton Street, Hess failed to use a turn signal while turning southbound.
The officer initiated a stop and approached the SUV. He noted Hess’ eyes were bloodshot and glossy and detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle.
Neither Hess nor his front passenger were using safety belts, the officer reports.
Field sobriety tests indicated Hess was impaired by alcohol and his breathalyzer sample was recorded at 0.149. He was released to a sober driver.
Dog owner charged
Levi J. King, 28, of 512 N. Elm St., was charged Friday, Nov. 4, with having a dog at large.
His dog allegedly attacked another dog as it and its owner, Wanda Ball, walked by the King residence. Ball’s dog was treated for injuries at a veterinary clinic.
