Lou Verda (Saylor) Defibaugh, 90, of Rushsylvania, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Green Hills Center in West Liberty.
Lou was born in Brodhead, Kentucky, Nov. 7, 1929 to Oscar and Rachel Saylor.
She graduated from Brodhead High School in 1947, and was employed by Atlas Clothing in Richmond, Indiana, before moving to Logan County in 1949. Lou worked for Westinghouse of Bellefontaine; Sperry Rubber and Plastic in Belle Center; and the United Telephone Company (Lima and Bellefontaine) where she semi-retired as a telephone operator in 1988. She later provided loving in-home care for nearly 30 local elderly residents desiring in-home assistance.
Lou served over 10 years as volunteer for the Mary Rutan Hospital Guild. A member of the Bellefontaine Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church, she loved gardening, crocheting and quilting, and was a former president of the Rushsylvania Garden Club. She also enjoyed playing fantasy football and watching her Cincinnati Reds, Kentucky Wildcats and Ohio State Buckeyes. More than anything, she adored spending time with her family.
Survivors include three sons, Denny Defibaugh of Cleveland, South Carolina, Russ (Corinne) Defibaugh of Coatesville, Pennsylania, and Lee (Pam) Defibaugh of Locust Grove, Virginia; and two daughters, Debbie (Bill) Birt of Rushsylvania, and Marqua Myers of Frederickstown; sibling, Raymond (Eula) Saylor of Cincinnati; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Dewey Saylor and Marvin Saylor, sister, Wanda (Saylor) Hunter; and son-in-law, Glenn Myers.
Visitation is Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine.
