Loretta Jean Blevins Bump, 57, of Lakeview, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at her home.
Loretta was born on Nov. 9, 1959, in Sidney to William M. and Eula Buck Blevins who survive in Glade Spring, Va. She was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Isaacs and a granddaughter, Gracie Slagle.
On April 1, 1999, she married Bruce A. Bump in DeGraff. After tracking down a Justice of the Peace, they met a Mennonite minister working in his wife’s tea room. He married them with his wife as a witness (Note the date). She is survived by Bruce, along with four children, Shane Slagle of Lakeview, Travis (Kristina) Slagle of Bellefontaine, Sonya (Brian) Jennings of Lima, and Megan (John Caudill) Harrison of Hilliard; six grandchildren, Hayden Webb, Khloie Slagle, Jeremy Balenger, Quinn Slagle, Alyssa Caudill and Ian Jennings; four siblings, Steve (Kathy) Blevins of Summerville, David Blevins of Lacey, Wash., Aleta (Harlan) Rogers of West Chester and Douglas (Jodi) Blevins of Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews including, Delanie.
Loretta was a 1978 graduate of Talawanda High School in Oxford. She formerly worked as a guard at Marysville Juvenile Detention Center and as a caseworker with Consolidated Care. She was a member of Hope Harbor Baptist Church, Lewistown. She enjoyed camping and fishing, but loved spending her time with her grandchildren.
Pastor Fred Albert begins funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday, March 27, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview, where visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 26. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Wilson Hospice, but most appreciated would be to provide acts of kindness to others.
