Elected officials breakfast canceled
Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities officials reported Wednesday that the organization is suspending all in-person meetings, trainings and other events through March 31 to protect the safety of its clients served relating to the coronavirus outbreak..
Events that are canceled include: the March 12 elected officials breakfast; March 14 Special Olympics Polar Plunge; March 24 Come Play at the Lake Basketball Game; and the March 30 through April 3 Discovery Center Bookfair and Donuts with Grownups.
Decisions to re-schedule events will be made at a later date, officials said.
Superintendent Saul Bauer said the cancellations followed consulation with the Logan County Health District and were made “to protect the safety of the individuals we serve and due to the heightened risks for people with developmental disabilities and the elderly.”
Governor Mike DeWine also has ordered all non-critical travel by state employees be postponed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus.
“As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, we have plans to continue to support individuals with developmental disabilities. I am meeting with agency providers of direct care services to offer assistance when needed and as available,” Bauer said. “If a meeting or event is scheduled, a member from our team will be reaching out to make arrangements.
“As needed we have the capability to support meetings remotely or over the phone and will be using this method as appropriate. Nonessential in-person meetings and events that cannot be accommodated will be postponed or canceled.”
Staff and volunteers are asked and expected to utilize good judgment when determining if or how to proceed with activities as not all possible situations or scenarios can be anticipated or covered by this guidance, the superintendent said.
