A variety of local agriculture will be showcased this weekend in conjunction with the biannual Top of Ohio Ag Tour.
Myeerah Nature Preserve is one of five stops Sunday in the biannual Top of Ohio Ag Tour.
The 2017 tour is set for 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and showcases operations in the “eastern central quadrant” of Logan County, according to promotional materials for the event.
Stops on this year’s tour, which is free, are the newly opened animals sciences building at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center; Myeerah Nature Preserve; Marmon Valley Farm; Ack-Lee Dairy Farm; and Darling Tunis, which is a Tunis sheep farm operated by Louise Dunham at 9048 County Road 153, East Liberty.
“We will have sheep sheering, wool to give away and the Logan County Farm Bureau and sheep association will be here so there will be a lot to do,” Ms. Dunham said.
Ms. Dunham works actively with youths from local 4-H clubs and schools, showcasing her flock and teaching children life skills.
“Right now I’m working with five kids and they have shown sheep at the Champaign County and Ohio State fairs, and have taken Tunis to nursing homes, petting zoos and anywhere else we get invited,” she said.
