February is the customary month for Honda of America Manufacturing Inc. to announce personnel changes at management levels and this year’s moves are part of plan to make HAM a regional leader for manufacturing and related technologies.
Caroline Ramsey, who is the unit manager for communications and government relations, said in an email the changes take effect April 1. She provided the automaker’s responses to a series questions from the Examiner about the personnel changes and production plans for local auto plants.
At the top of the local management chain, Soichiro Takizawa was named president of HAM replacing Toshiyuki Shimabara.Takizawa was previously a senior vice president at Honda North America.
As part of the new organizational structure, Honda is creating new regional function leaders in several strategic manufacturing areas.
These new regional roles will be based at HAM, Ramsey reports, and the moves will strengthen the coordination with Honda’s global and North American manufacturing operations to efficiently implement regional strategy.
