A Logan County burglary was solved late last week following the arrest of a Lima man Thursday by deputies of the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were contacted Friday regarding the arrest of Johnny C. Jackson, 38, for a felony count of receiving stolen property related to an Auglaize County burglary.
Investigators from the LCSO traveled to Auglaize County Friday afternoon and met with Auglaize County detectives.
Local investigators recovered items in the suspect’s vehicle that were reported stolen by Thursday afternoon by Stacey McMillen, 11730 County Road 17, Lakeview.
Ms. McMillen said she arrived home that day and observed signs of forced entry to her residence. Deputies said the home looked like it had been “ransacked,” and missing items included a pistol and a video game, as previously reported in the Examiner.
Similarly in Auglaize County, deputies responded Thursday afternoon to a residence on State Route 117 east of Waynesfield after a resident alerted the sheriff’s office of a suspicious person at an unoccupied home.
Upon arrival, Auglaize County deputies discovered the home had been forcibly entered and items removed. The resident who had alerted the Sheriff’s Office was able to give a description of the vehicle and suspect that was broadcasted to area agencies, including the Lima Police Department and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.
A short time later, the suspect and vehicle were spotted in Lima by an Allen County deputy. After a short pursuit and foot chase, the suspect was taken into custody in Lima and arrested for the burglary.
Logan County investigators interviewed Mr. Jackson at the Auglaize County Jail and have forwarded burglary charges to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for processing. Local deputies have charged him with one count of burglary.
