Lawrence Eugene “Gene” Inskeep, 95, of Middleburg, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, in The Gables, Marysville.
He was born Feb. 6, 1923, in Middleburg, a son of the late Howard and Nettie Crowder Sigler Inskeep.
Gene was a member of the Middleburg United Methodist Church, the Triad Athletic Boosters, Farm Bureau, was a 30 year 4-H advisor and was a member of the North Lewisburg Fire Department for 16 years. Gene enjoyed living at and working on the farm. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters, Louise Dunham and Janice (Robert) Shonkwiler; son, Kaylor (Sandy) Inskeep; grandchildren, Paula Darling, Deborah (Alan) Carpenter, Stacy (David) Peterson, Jason (Missy) Inskeep, Ty (Kristi) Inskeep and Justin (Erica) Brown; and several great- grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his wife, Cathrine Kate Firestine Inskeep; sisters, Laura Bell Crabtree, Eileen Inskeep and Martha Fletcher; and brother, Donald Wayne Inskeep.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in the Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, March 2, in the Middleburg United Methodist Church, 11824 State Route 287, Middleburg, with Pastor Karen Montgomery officiating. Burial follows in Middleburg Cemetery.
