Bellefontaine’s girls golf team started its season in impressive fashion Friday, finishing second in the Central Buckeye Conference preseason tournament at Liberty Hills Golf Club.

Led by co-medalists Kacey Miller and Layne Greenwood, Kenton Ridge won the tourney with a 344. Miller and Greenwood each shot 76.
Bellefontaine was next with 363, Greenon was third with 399, Springfield Shawnee took fourth with 429, Northwestern had 443 for fifth and Benjamin Logan was sixth with 505. Urbana also competed, but did not have enough golfers to post a team score.
Sam McLaughlin led the Chiefs with an 85. Haley Watkins had an 87, Emily McLaughlin shot 88, Amy Fulmer had 103, Emily Fulmer had a 106, Shelby Starkey shot 111, Ari Hiatt had 113 and Meagan Beaverson had a 128.
For Ben Logan, Gabrielle Schmit led the way with a 117. Sarah Seeley had a 120, Ryann Beaschler had a 126 and Caterina Stevens had a 142.
