A Bellefontaine man, who awaits a trial on two charges of domestic violence, now faces additional charges after a Logan County grand jury returned indictments for first-degree felony kidnapping, two counts of second-degree felony felonious assault and three counts of fourth-degree felony theft of drugs.
Edwin A. Ford, 39, is currently lodged in the Logan County Jail. His trial on the domestic violence charges is set for Feb. 24 and 25 from a May arrest.
On Feb. 4, an assistant Logan County prosecutor and an officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department met with the suspect’s wife, Lindsay, who told them she escaped Feb. 3 from the couple’s 116 N. Elm St. residence after promising to steal beer for the suspect.
She alleged he had been holding her against her will and continued to beat her, causing injuries that required medical attention.
The trial was set for this week but was postponed after the new charges came to light.

Bellefontaine police detectives began investigating him in 2012 for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl. He was 19 at the time.
He then left the area and was living in Florida before returning to the area in December. He was served with a warrant at that time and was lodged in the jail.
Prior to Tuesday’s indictments, he was released on bond and again fled the area. Detectives are trying to locate him again.
