Kathleen Rae Latham Holden of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, in the comfort of her own home.
She was a daughter of the late Thomas Monroe and Olga Freda Latham. Born in Columbia City, Ind., on Nov. 4, 1953, her family moved to Bellefontaine in 1960 and she graduated from Bellefontaine High School in 1972.
She is survived by her former husband, Richard L. Holden; their four children, Thomas Richard Holden, James Robert Holden, Lauren Elizabeth (Brian) Ratliff and Lynn Elise Holden (Matthew Schoeneman); three beautiful grandchildren, Brooke L. Holden, Cameron J. Ratliff and Joseph C. Ratliff; three sisters, Barbara Roland Gorman, Kay Slesinger Rich and Jeri Lynn Drew; two brothers, Thomas D. Latham and Ron Latham; and her dear niece, Shelly Latham Olson, who was like a little sister to her and brought her so much joy and companionship over the years.
Kathleen also was preceded in death by brothers, John Robert Latham and Charles Edward Latham.
From 1972 to 1976, she attended Bowling Green State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in interior design. In 1977, she opened Kathleen Interiors, a design studio specializing in custom order designs for both residential and commercial markets serving the Greater Miami Valley.
Kathleen was a licensed Realtor and received great pleasure working with first-time home buyers and investors. She was a former vice president of the Downtown Merchants Association and was a former member of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce.
She was one of the first group of women invited to join Kiwanis, whose members assisted in creating ways to serve local children in the community through service projects and fundraising. Kathleen also enjoyed assisting local area school districts as a substitute teacher for many years. In her final years, Kathleen had been the proud owner/operator of Meals, Munchies and More serving meals in the local community.
Kathleen was a proud member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, 1013 E. Lawn Ave., Urbana, where funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19. Burial follows in Fairview Cemetery in West Liberty. Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home Crematory, 5591 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty.
