Karen A. Alloway, 77, of Huntsville, OH passed away early Wednesday morning, December 30, 2020 at her home.
Karen was born on May 13, 1943 in Lima, OH, a daughter of the late Raymond Buffenbarger and Eva Wilcox Buffenbarger Walper. She was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Marvin Spencer.
Karen is survived by three children, Heidi (Mark) Barrett of Kenton, OH, Heather (Jack) Widmark of Zanesfield, OH, and Heath (Megan) Alloway of Marysville, OH, 7 grandchildren, Hannah Boysel, Hayley Boysel, Danielle Widmark, Kori Barrett, Keelee Barrett, Kyle Barrett, and Hallie Alloway, a sister, Sue Spencer of Waynesfield, OH, a brother, Charles (Pat) Buffenbarger of Waynesfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Karen was a 1961 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen School with perfected attendance throughout. She graduated with her Bachelor of Education from Bluffton College in 1964 and Master of Education from Wright State University. Karen was a teacher for 32 years, spending 28 years at Indian Lake High School where she retired in 1998. Karen was a member of Indian Lake Community Church in Russells Point, OH and a member of Indian Lake Women of the Moose Chapter 452. She enjoyed her card clubs with former classmates and fellow teachers, golfing, and being on the water, either boating on Indian Lake or at a beach in Florida. Her greatest love was her family, being Grandma, and attending every one of her grandchildren’s activities she could.
Pastors Karen Blackburn and Jim Ellington will begin funeral services at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Indian Lake Community Church in Russells Point. Visitation is Monday, January 4th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview, and Tuesday from noon to 1 pm at church. Burial is in Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield, OH.
